Review the join18F email account's autoresponse

Directions on that page say: "If you’re interested in these opportunities, please email join18f@gsa.gov and reference the position you are interested in. You may apply to more than one role."
Or, you can go to the detail page for that specific position for more information. On that page it says: "If you would like to apply to this opportunity, please email join18f@gsa.gov and reference this position."
When I emailed join18f@gsa.gov referencing the position, I got an automatic response back from GSA saying: "If you are interested in applying to work with us, please check out our open positions and apply there: https://pages.18f.gov/joining-18f/open-positions/"
Circular problem.
What's up with that, and how do I apply for one of these positions? Really?
