Imagine I am a manager of a team of several editors working in a WordPress site. What if:
- I prefer an editorial workflow in which content is built in a staging environment and pushed to production after review.
- But once my content is in production, I prefer to make all edits there.
- Thus the content on production no longer needs any connection with the content on staging.
Distributor works great for this workflow, but once the content is on production, iI have no way to get rid of this alert in the editor (if I am not comfortable editing metadata):
Originally distributed from [Source site]. This page has been unlinked from the origin page. Edits to the page will not update this remote version.
With two action buttons:
Relink to the origin page. | View the origin page.
While I could live with this notice, for my particular use case it's not helpful, and it is confusing to members of my editorial team.
I would like to be able to click a button on this notice to make it go away forever. I don't need the Distributor connection to be preserved in any way.
Meanwhile, I can imagine that others may want to keep that Distributor link in place but still not be confronted with that notice every time they edit a distributed post.

Alternatively, there could be a plugin setting along the lines of, "Disconnect content after distribution," a checkbox which someone like me could check to tell the plugin my workflow is one-time-only distribution.
